Webcast on principles of Principles of Business Strategy

I have stumbled upon blog Kallokain by Henrik Mårtensson but really haven't had time to read more. His most recent post includes webcast on business strategy principles and what tools Apple has used in battle against phone giants.

In addition to nice overview of principles in the webcast I recommend reading comments, they provide some useful insight as well.

On other note, I have Fast Strategy on its way from Amazon and I'll report back when I'm finished reading it.

About On Winning

This blog is an attempt by two Finnish students of strategy, Panu Kinnari and Janne M. Korhonen, to refine and develop their ideas about Boydian/time-based competition/manouver conflict strategy towards practical applications in everyday organizations, such as in business. Basing on the ideas of John R. Boyd and others such as Chet Richards and Mike Smock, our mission is to understand better what makes a winner in a competitive situation, and to help academic recognition and discourse of time-based competition in business by gathering evidence for - or against.

This blog was created as an outlet for our writings, as a field to test out new ideas, and as an academic research diary, all rolled into one. We very much welcome all comments and input, but especially valuable to us is critique of our ideas: one of the best ways to advance science is by proving a hypothesis wrong, so we challenge you to do your best to hose our theories down!

About The Authors

Janne (J. M.) Korhonen: I’m a life-long learner with a special penchant for strategy, history and how design capability in a marketplace roughly equates to mobility in battlespace. Currently, I’m finalizing my M.Sc. (Eng.) degree in business strategy, design management and manufacturing engineering from three universities in Helsinki, Finland (kids, don’t try this at home). When I don’t feel like churning out academic stuff, I work in and partially own a tiny company called S.E.O.S. Design, which specializes in advanced technology concept designs and design research for clients such as major consumer electronics manufacturers. The rest of the time I tend to read, write and watch movies. And drink beer.

Panu Kinnari: Strong believer in life-long learning here as well. I have Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from EVTEK University of Applied Sciences. From the two of us I am the more process or hands on type of guy, I think mainly due to my interest in Lean Principles. I have worked in process development in electronics industry as well as in retail logistics. Currently I work as Process Specialist at Comforta, Finlands leading hotell linen laundry service provider. On my free time I read a lot, bitch about broken processes that I encounter and blog some. And yes, beer is close to my heart as well.
